This past week, our church family came together to celebrate and bless the beginning of a new school year in some very special ways. On Sunday, our children carried school supplies to the altar where we prayed over them—backpacks, binders, pencils, and more. These supplies were collected to be shared with two schools in our community: Center McMechen and Glen Dale Elementary.
On Monday morning, we had the joy of delivering those donations. The teachers’ excitement was contagious—their smiles and gratitude reminded us that something as simple as a pack of pencils or a new binder can make a huge difference in the classroom. One teacher even told us that it felt like Christmas morning. What a blessing it was to be part of God’s provision for our local schools!
Then, on Tuesday morning—the first day of school—our church family gathered once again, this time outside the schools. With signs, cheering, and warm smiles, we welcomed both students and teachers back for the new year. It was a wonderful way to encourage them, letting them know their community is behind them and praying for their success. We are thankful for the many hands and hearts that made these efforts possible.
It was a true expression of Christ’s love at work: giving generously, serving joyfully, and praying faithfully. As the school year begins, let us continue to hold our students, teachers, staff, and families in prayer. May this year be filled with learning, growth, and the knowledge that God walks with us every step of the way.
